dear apple.

hi,

how are you doing? been keeping busy lately from what i´ve heard, enjoying too much german beer and getting police to search through homes. good times indeed.

but this is not what i wanted to talk about. i mean, i would like too because i´m curious on why you´re acting like such fool but not this time. i wanted to talk to you about something else.

like the price on your magsafe.

79 dollars. 85 including tax here in san francisco.

really? i would be ready to pay that much if that asian kid that produced it did get half of that money. but he won´t and i´m pretty sure the marginals on this are pretty wickedly good for you guys.

and yeah, you could say that i could probably find cheaper ones if you google around or head on out to ebay but i needed one right now. i don´t have a week to hold out for shipping. it´s goddamn finals-week here right now and shit needs to get done. so on a already strained budget i had to fork out 85 more dollars on something i´m pretty sure you could have sold for half the price and still make a good deal.

i like you. i love my macbook. i´ll probably buy an ipod touch as soon as you guys cross the 100 gb limit and the new iphone looks kind of cool. but for now i´m just gonna say this …

F-CK YOU AND YOUR GREEDY FINGERS. SOOO HARD.

ipad (the boston way)

alright. now, i love my macbook. i love the feel of it, how it runs and that i haven´t had too many major problems with it at all (just one if i can recall). and i like apple. i mean, i don´t freak out every time there is a certain rumor going around but i get it that it´s a smart company making products that do what they should do and do it well. there is a certain portion of love in it.

but honestly, perhaps i´m not being progressive enough but i really don´t see what the fuss is about regarding the new ipad. it´s basically a blown up ipod touch with a slighty more refined UI.

i think the problem lies withing a certain point. i´m not the target audience. i use my computer too much to be satisfied with what i´m being given here. the ipad is for light consumers. the want to be able to carry a gadget that´s not as heavy as a macbook, but still offers a bigger viewing-mode than the iphone/ipod touch. it´s for people on the go who don´t require too much.

the compability with apps sure does give it an edge but for me, as a heavy user, working with the adobe suit and everything it wouldn´t simply work. and i don´t know if i´m ready porking out 500 dollars for something like this.

oh the ibook-part you say. let´s just say this. if i would buy a gadget for reading books the ipad would be far down on my list. 10 hours of battery, the kindle/nook or whatever beats the crap out of that and are much easier on the eye thanks to e-ink. on the other hand, the ipad is able to bring a much deeper experience through videos and pictures to tag along the books.

i don´t know. i guess i´m just disappointed. no front-facing camera for videochatting (on a gadget apparently made for using the internet), no flash (which means no hulu amongst other things). no multitasking (but our dear hackers will probably figure that one out soon). no heavy programs can be run on it (so far, who knows if it might become available later on.

listen. i know there will probably come up a really useable point for this gadget. if anything, apple is great on creating that second step others companies simply forget. ipods came with the itunes store and so on. but right now i´m sort of dissapointed.

now, if you could get me something with similar touchscreen technology with proper OS and horsepower of a macbook/pro so i could edit my work directly on the screen (cintiq-style), or a more microsoft courier style, now that would be … awesomeness.

it´s a good time for technology no doubt. this will be very interesting.
